Abstract
This study investigated the activities of Community and Social Development Programmes (CSDP) across communities within the three geo-political zones of Ebonyi State, Nigeria. The sample for the study was 566 respondents. Descriptive survey design was adopted, while the instrument for data collection was questionnaire developed by the researcher. Five research questions guided the study. The data collected were analyzed using frequency count and percentages. The findings revealed that they were still prevalence of high poverty rate, high level of ignorance, illiteracy, low capacity building and poor infrastructural base across many communities in Ebonyi State. The study recommends among other things that Government of Ebonyi State should initiate more
program to tackle problems of poverty and illiteracy squarely so as to reduce them to the barest minimum.
